Lipitor side effects lawyers are fielding inquiries from thousands of patients who claim to have developed diabetes as a result of using Lipitor. Sadly, there is no cure for the disease. Those who develop diabetes must manage it for the rest of their lives, leaving many wondering if it’s time to contact a Lipitor lawsuit attorney.

If you developed diabetes after taking Lipitor, you may be eligible to join other plaintiffs in seeking compensation from Pfizer. However, everyone’s situation is unique. Our Lipitor attorneys are here to listen to you and help you understand your legal options. Call us today at 1-888-578-4755 for free advice on your specific circumstances.

Wondering if you qualify to file a Lipitor lawsuit claim?

Every case is unique, however certain criteria must be met to qualify for the Lipitor Lawsuit currently being litigated in federal courts. Our attorneys can review your legal options, at no cost or obligation, based on your specific circumstances.

The following are just a few of the factors that may help you decide if you’re ready to contact us.

Do you take, or have you taken, the statin Lipitor?

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved atorvastatin, marketed as Lipitor, for the treatment of high blood cholesterol in 1996. Sixteen years later, in 2012, the FDA issued a press release warning the public that drugs like atorvastatin may be linked to high blood sugar levels and type 2 diabetes.

Pfizer had not previously warned consumers of such a link, and is now facing a rising tide of Lipitor lawsuit claims which accuse it of failing to disclose important safety information to the public.

Are you a woman?

In a 2012 study published in the American Medical Association’s journal JAMA Internal Medicine, researchers found that women may be at a higher risk of developing diabetes while taking Lipitor than men are.

In previous studies that focused on men or mixed-gender groups, scientists found that statin users were almost 10% more likely to develop diabetes than their peers. In the 2012 woman-focused study, statins like Lipitor increased risk nearly 50%.

Unfortunately, the 2014 multidistrict litigation (MDL) which consolidated pending Lipitor Lawsuits does not include men.

Did you develop diabetes after menopause?

Just as being female appears to increase the risk of developing diabetes while taking Lipitor, so does being past the age of menopause. It is unclear why older women developed diabetes at a higher rate, but it may have to do with the way hormones affect body fat placement.

Did you develop diabetes despite a healthy lifestyle?

In addition to gender and age apparently playing a role, many otherwise healthy women are surprised to find they have developed the disease after taking Lipitor, especially when there is no family history of diabetes. Equally surprising is the diagnosis of diabetes despite a low body-mass index (BMI).

Do you know the claim filing deadline in your state?

All states have placed legal limits on the window of time in which drug injury lawsuits may be filed. It is important to make sure your Lipitor and diabetes claim is made before this deadline, or you could lose your legal rights. Without an attorney, these laws can be confusing and difficult to interpret. More importantly, time may be running out to file a Lipitor Diabetes Lawsuit claim in some states.

Are you interested in receiving compensation for your injuries?

Women who have been harmed by Pfizer’s cholesterol medication are beginning to file lawsuits to demand compensation. They not only allege the company failed to provide adequate warning about the connection between Lipitor and diabetes, but intentionally and deceitfully withheld information about it.

The good news is that financial compensation may be available to those who have been injured. If you are a woman who developed diabetes after using Pfizer’s drug Lipitor, you may be eligible to file a claim.

Contact our Lipitor lawsuit attorneys to learn more about the statutes of limitation in your state and the way they could affect your case. The consultation and advice are completely free.
